GENDER PAY GAP
Does the gender pay gap really exist in the world as we know it today? Well today I will be exploring that issue in this article. The gender pay gap also known as the gender wage gap is the difference in compensation between the men and women who are working. In general it is believed that women are paid less than men for the same amount of work if not more. In my authorial point of view, I am affirmative of the fact that the gender-pay gap does exist in numerous countries in the world. There are multiple reasons why the pay gap still exists in such a modernized world where are stereotypes have been diminished. The number one reason is based solely on discrimination in which employers believe that are less willing to work and have lesser capabilities as compared to a man. Another manipulating factor is motherhood, as studies have shown that an increase in the wage gap is due to the fact that women keep having children and multiple studies have also shown that when mothers pursue jobs they look for lower hours which results in lower wages. The chart below will accurately represent that women’s earnings significantly drop after having a child whereas men’s don’t.

However, addressing the topic, gender pay gap is very common amongst many minds. For eg: It is still imperatively difficult for many civilians to believe that a graduated girl is
eligible to become an engineer, a doctor, place their foot into politics or be passionate about
multifarious sports such as wrestling, thus women get extremely demotivated and get into stereotypical fields. We all exist in a world where race, colour and gender still
worries people no matter how much effort made to cease it or remove it from existence.
Actions speak louder than words. A significant example would be UAE.UAE is a land of expression and equity. A land that not only signs legal words on paper but also exposes it’s women to every possible field available here and abroad.A land that is strictly against the sexual discrimination and gender pay gap. How do they abide by their thoughts against the gender pay gap?

A law ensuring the women equal pay to their male colleagues was put in order by the UAE
cabinet recently. Along with the law, The Gender Balance Guide was also adopted by the UAE.
This guide is to be adopted by all private and public organisations and institutions as a tool in
order to advance the Equal Pay Right.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed had stated, “With the force of the law and wisdom, there are
no exceptions in providing equal opportunities between the sexes. Our Constitution includes the
equal rights and duties of genders, and we seek to enhance, enforce and guarantee this
constitutional right through the new law.”
The government of UAE strides in enhancing Equal pay for each gender without hesitation. The
UAE has always been famed for its empowerment of women and Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak,
Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood
and Childhood and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation had stated
that the law for equal pay was just another step towards empowering women of the UAE.Along
with Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge
Development said that the law was evidence of the country's commitment towards gender
equality.
In conclusion, the gender-pay gap is a very grave issue which is impacting today’s society and many initiatives have been taken to reduce this is unjust wage gap based on gender alone.
The Gender pay gap must be eliminated from existence to live in a world of harmony
and peace. Every country is making and must continue to make efforts in order to empower
women as well as look at women and men as people with the same capabilities whose intention
is only to revamp the world and contribute through their own fields and passions before they
perish.
